We are quite sure now that Jasper has worked out to ask to go out for the toilet. He’ll sit and look at us, or sit by the door, patiently, in which case it falls on us to notice his behaviour.
The problem is, though, that I had no intention of encouraging this system. Whereas Andrew believes it to be the best – if not only way – to train him. In my mind, he would adjust to a walking routine, morning, afternoon and evening, and his bladder would follow accordingly.
Online research supports each of us, so we’re at something of a stalemate currently. In the meantime, we’ll focus on weaning him off peeing in the garden at least, and on walks instead.
Wish us luck!
